Lily Pond, Bath & Body Works
Lily Pond from Bath & Body Works (White Barn) was not a candle I could see myself purchasing again. While it had an excellent scent throw and nearly flawless burn, the scent was just ‘off’ to me. It was too much of the strange, supposedly water-aquatic notes that just didn’t translate well in this candle. It wasn’t blow-it-out awful…just not really that soothing or pleasant to me.
The good news, though, is that the candle didn’t miss a beat in the performance arena. I know that candles stored properly can last a really long time, and this just reaffirms that belief for me.
Lily Pond, Bath & Body Works
Lily Pond was introduced as a test scent for the 2013 Spring Collection by Bath & Body Works, and it seems to have been met with quite a few mixed reviews. Those that hated it seemed to really hate it. I read about a few people who really loved the scent. It was a hit enough to go wide, so I suppose that's saying something. The negative remarks I've seen about the candle have been about it smelling like swamp water and old soap. I never did burn Lily Pond back in the day, so I was interested in trying it when I found it on eBay.
A common fragrance of a water garden is conjured up by light touches of waterlilies and musk.
- DW Home Water Lily & Lotus: This aquatic fragrance is more balanced with a hint of sweetness.
- ScentSationals Rainy Day: Love this scent! The floral notes are softer and there are beautiful ozone notes blended in.
This seller shipped out super fast. I ordered one day and it was packaged in the mail the next. I even received my package 2 days ahead of schedule! THe candle was packaged very well and came in pristine condition - just as advertised. This seller has a number of other B&BW candles, bath/body products, and accessories for sale.
Where to Buy:
- Try searching for White Barn in case this candle is listed under that name.
- This candle was released in late 2012 as a test scent first. Search this year and 2013.
Lily Pond was very underwhelming for me. It wasn’t as bad as I was led to believe based on several online reviews, but it wasn’t that great either. I can see why this one didn’t become a returning favorite! But then, there are those who loved the scent, so to each his/her own. I think the main interest I have in doing these reviews is to make sure older candles can still perform well, and this one certainly did!
About Vintage Candle Reviews
We have a little more than a casual curiosity when it comes to candles of the past. We search high and low for older candles and put them to the test. Do they still hold their scent? How do they perform? If the candle is no longer in production (or just too hard to find), we offer up some similar candle suggestions.
